Power Systems Engineer, Texas
The Power Systems Engineer, Texas designs the on-site power that energizes our AI campus in South ERCOT: natural gas generation, battery storage, switchgear and the bridge-to-grid path that connects the campus to the utility later.
About the role
You turn a customer load into a power system: generation sized to the block, storage that rides through events and smooths GPU load steps, and a grid connection planned from day one.
Who you work with
You work with our development director on the site and gas supply, our data center design lead on distribution into the halls, and EPC partners and equipment suppliers on specifications. Customers' engineering teams rely on you to explain how their load is powered.
Responsibilities
- Develop the power system design for each 10–50 MW block: generation, storage, switchgear and distribution to the halls.
- Run and review power studies for AI loads, including load steps from large GPU clusters.
- Define the battery storage roles: ride-through, peak support and generation smoothing.
- Plan the bridge-to-grid path with the utility so the campus joins the grid without rework.
- Work with equipment suppliers and EPC partners on specifications, protection and controls.
- Support testing, commissioning and handover documentation for every energized block.
What you bring
- A power systems engineering background in generation, storage, substations or large electrical facilities.
- Hands-on experience with power studies, protection and controls.
- Field experience in testing and commissioning electrical systems.
- Interest in the fast, large load swings of AI workloads and how to design for them.
- Clear communication with developers, designers, suppliers and customers.
